THE ANTIDOTE TO ALL MICROWAVE DJS EVERYWHERE ARE THESE 3 DJS WHO ROCKED MAXIME COSSOGUY DROWNING IN MY SLEEP JEANS.

The real DJS of our era. It has been a diminishing art form as far as quality is concerned to say the least. The increasing popularity of this art form did not help much either. We have been having DJS popping out of no where since it has become the latest trend. It is always annoying to me to meeting some "YOUNG HOT GIRL"  one day dancing to a silly popular top 40 songs pretending to understanding the beats. Meeting the same girl next week to finding out that she is now the house DJ. It is clear that happens because of her looks. Usually these girls or guys know nothing of the art form. They would never know how to spin vinyl or the true working of a crowd. Just playing top 40's and call it a day. These people are somewhat similar to the wanna be fashion designers of my business. So I do understand when my boys are frustrated and want to leave the DJ business.

It is still sad I tell you because my boys are the real " SHIT" man, These guys have put in the work and they do not do it to follow a trend. They do it because of the love that they have for moving a crowd and playing their music, making and producing "phat" beats.
I have three such real DJS who are the antidote for all microwaves DJS all over:
GUNARS ELMUTS,  STUART BRAUNSTEIN  and  MATEO DIFONTAINE

STU BRANSTEEN a character and a monument of the New York night life landscape. Stu does not just move to the sound of his own drum beats; he completely destroys the drum and creates beats from absolutely no where. He was the first DJ that I would go out my way to hear perform and it wasn't because I needed to pick up some girls. The dude had skill and attitude to match. He is the kind of DJ that constantly improvising while playing. He takes the music where he feels the night should go. So I loved Stu's stylo from the start.

I remember long ago one very rainy and moist night at the old "club Marquee" On the upstairs VIP lounge. I truly was not feeling great that day but since my boy was playing I decided to get upstairs to chill. Suddenly as I got up there to see Stu, I was transported to a new universe; everyone was jumping, sweaty and screaming having so much fun with no care in the world.

Songs after songs Stu captured all of us. It is so difficult to explain and described verbally what Stu did that night. but it was magical. One can only be able to do such thing with a great deal of skill and understanding of both music and people. We were all Stu's poppets that night and yes we were sort of his bitches. He had us all captured.
Around four o'clock when it was time to go home no one wanted to leave. We were all outside in rage wanting to continue the night. Yes Stu ended up taking all of us to a basement in the Lower East Side for an after party until morning. Yes this is the kind of night that you always remember and it was all because of Stu's DJ skill to turning a rainy moist night into a full sunny shinny day. We did partied until noon the next day. I am happy and blessed to see him rocking my jeans.

GUNARS ELMUTS one of my best friends for sure, my wing man, my confident.
He is the only dude that I know that can deal with all kind of people and manage to keeping his sanity, integrity, respect and self control. He has managed to keeping his feet in both sides of life. Wild enough to be cool and conservative and intelligent enough to be taken seriously.

I do not go out much nowadays due to me wanting to focus more on my career; but at one point I was a club kid. There could never have been a new club where you would not see my ugly face. I guess at that time that's what was cool to me. So nowadays Gunars is the only one that I go out of my way to see and hear plays. It is always dangerous for me going to hear Gunars because I can guarantee you that I am going to make a fool of myself somehow. Gunars is the kind of DJ that makes you feel that he is playing the songs just for you. It is as if he is using your own IPad playing from your favorite lists. The selections are always just right. I can walk into a club acting all cool, looking gangster like. Just barely bopping my head but at one point I will always loose control and dance like a fool and my moves all crazy and I don't care.

He invited me just recently to Tammany Hall to hear him play and see our friend Sean's new spot. Casually I went acting all cool as usual. I entered the place bopping my head slowly to the beat. There were a few hot girls there so I was very serious in my demeanor. Everyone was talking and not paying much attention.
First he hit me with some cool Chris Cornell, I had no idea when I got in the middle of the dance floor with my eyes closed going completely crazy, then to make matters worst he hit me with some Rage Against the machine. Now I was completely nuts and needed to be arrested. Then he continued to "FUCK" with me by hitting me with Jimi Hendrix that was the end of it. My dancing was so wild and out there, I had all the girls around me trying to feel the same dancing passion that I was feeling and it was a crazy scene man.
Yeah his technical skill is superb and his knowledge of rock and music is the medicine that is guarantee to making you feeling better. He has put a great deal of work in Djing and you have to respect that.
I am also happy to say that Gunars only rocked my cloths anytime you see him you will find him looking cool as ever rocking one of my rocked skinny pieces. He is the real deal yo.

MATEO DIFONTAINE my man. A real laid back character. He has been Djing for a very long time. He goes back to the days of Run and Beasty boys and all that good stuff. He has acquired a great deal of skill and has gold and platinum records to show for it. I met Mateo about three years ago. I went to see him play a few months back at #8 to my surprised he was rocking vinyl that night, scratching and doing his thing. I was so impressed knowing fully well that nowadays none of these microwave djs can do such thing. It was also clear to me that most people that were there did not pay attention to him playing vinyl as if they did not understand what was going on. I did and a few others did. He rocked that night in a big way anyways. He had everyone going wild. The vinyl touch was just right. I guess he does that just to keeping it real. This is true skill and I respect it a great deal. The girls were moving and yelling screaming loving what he was playing. I witnessed many people approaching him giving him much props for his playing.

Two weeks ago I went with Gunars to see Mateo play at PHD. It was a model crowd that night so needless to say many hot girls. Mateo had them all captured. He knew exactly what to play. He rocked some old school hip hop. From PUBLIC ENEMY to KRS ONE. RUN DMC to BEASTY BOYS. I was in heaven because he was playing songs from my era and these guys he played I grew up listening to. Before the night was over the dj booth was filled with hot girls trying to taste the Mateo's flavor.
He is a smooth operator and a skill one at that. His passion for his music remains untouched and unaffected even though the business has changed. I love that Mateo plays with lots on integrity and will not compromised in his ways. I am happy to say that he is also rocking my jeans and you may see him rocking one at his next gig.

I respect all these three dudes, keeping the art of djing true and real. I am happy to call them all friends  and I am more than grateful that they all wear my jeans. These are the kind of people that I want to sponsor with my line of clothing.
